Under our feet there is often a complex network of utilities. This complex network of utilities is constantly changing and getting more sophisticated. Detecting these changing environments using EML locators and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is paramount. Positive identification of utilities ensures a safe environment when ground penetration takes place.

C.R Kennedy Utility detection has worked closely with many Asset owners, Utility Locators, Archaeologists, geophysical professionals, Councils, Survey companies and utility specialist to ensure underground activity is identified. Underground utilities can be non-intrusively identified using both EML utility locators and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). GPR can also be used to identify the geophysical makeup of the earths surface, while also identifying groundwater and bedrock.

What is Utility Locating and its benefits?
Utility locating or Utility detection is the process of identifying underground services. The underground services can come in the form of directly buried cables to concrete pipes. To locate all these services, there are two utility locating methods required. The first method is Electromagnetic locating (EML). This is done using our brand of utility locators on conductive services. These conductive services range from Telstra and electrical cables to metal water mains. The second method is using Ground penetrating radar (GPR). Ground penetrating radar can pick up both conductive and non-conductive utilities. Our range of 3D GPRs can create a 3d model of underground utilities.
